League Lab Mail Chimp Integration


About

Mail Chimp is a Web Based platform for sending HTML Email Campaigns. It is the default League Lab bulk email provider, and integrates with the League Lab platform.

Lists

  • Import Lists: Mail Chimp allow you to import you list of players straight into their system. Mail Chimp accept .CSV, .TXT, or most Excel files. You’ll be prompted to match your data columns to a data type (ex. Name, Email, Gender, etc.) or to skip those columns.


  • Tip: Bounces and Unsubscribes are stored on a list-by-basis, meaning that those who are running multiple lists (for example, owners with multiple leagues/sites) need to manage the bounces/unsubs for both independently.


  • Auto-Update: Every evening, our Mail Chimp integration will automatically update your lists based on any new additions from your League Lab site. Set it up and forget it!


  • Tip: Keep your # of lists as small as possible, maintaining and trimming groups rather than duplicating them. This helps reduce confusion and mistakes down the road.


Groups and Segments

Groups are public facing. People can add themselves to groups and receive group specific newsletters/campaigns (ex. “Interested in Corporate Events”).

  • Use a custom sign-up form to automatically sort your players into groups based on their answers.

Segments are something that you control on mail chimp. Segments let you further divide your lists by using variables. For example, you could send a campaign to “Female Bowling Indy’s in Downtown”, etc.

Creating a Campaign

  • You can decide whether you want to send out a Regular Campaign or set up an A/B Test Campaign to measure which of your Campaigns gets the best results.
  • Choose from several Mail Chimp predesigned layouts for your Campaigns, or get crafty and create your own. You can even import a Campaign Layout from outside Mail Chimp!

What shouldn’t you do with Mail Chimp?

Mail Chimp should not be used for regular league communication. You can send plain text emails through the League Lab back end at no charge.

What if I’m already on MailChimp?

Perfect! League Lab will integrate with your existing League Lab account. No need to create a new account just for League Lab.
