It is important to keep the name of your League or Tournament short and descriptive. This is the first place to make an impression and convince players that you are the right league for them. Make it the best first impression that you can! While short, pertinent information must be relayed to reduce confusion.
We recommend using the following naming convention:
Season - Gender Type - Sport - Location - Day of the week
- Seasons include Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Your league/tournament names may include early and late seasons (Ex: Early Fall and Late Fall) if you are running quick back-to-back events in the same quarter.
- League lab offers inclusive Gender Types during registration. It is important to identify which type of gendered league you are running. This may include: Male, Female, Co-ed, Non-binary, or Open Leagues.
- Make it clear which Sport this league is for.
- Location does not always have to be included if you host at one location. If you run leagues at multiple locations, especially sport leagues at multiple locations, you will want to include the location in the league name.
- Day of the week provides clarification for players about what night of the week the league will be held on. If you are running a multi-day league, we strongly recommend including both days.
Below are a couple great examples. Please note that our recommended naming convention can have components added or removed. Make sure whichever naming convention you choose for your league, it is consistent and clarifying for your players:
